Falls and fractures pose a significant health risk for older individuals in the UK. With statistics showing that individuals aged 65 and above have the highest risk of falling, it is alarming to note that approximately 33% of this age group and 50% of those aged 80 and above fall at least once a year (Gov.uk 2022).
Aside from the physical injuries and pain caused by falls, they also lead to emotional distress, loss of confidence, independence, and in some cases, mortality. It is important to take measures to prevent falls, especially among the elderly population.
It has been shown that multifactorial risk assessments can reduce falls by up to 24% (NHS Right Care). In addition, evidence-based exercise programmes in the community have been seen to reduce falls by up to 34% (Sherrington et al. 2019).
Our neuro rehab service focuses on addressing neurological impairments and dysfunctions to maintain and optimise safety, mobility and function through conventional and innovative exercises, education and advice.
Potential clients who may need 2 or more people for this task will unfortunately not be appropriate for this service due to safety and current staffing numbers.
Service users with neurological conditions (i.e., stroke, MS, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, etc) are advised to book onto our 1-hour 'Neuro Rehab' service for a more comprehensive initial consultation. Otherwise, please select our 45-minute 'Elderly Care Rehab (non-neuro)'.
Available as part of our Neuro/Elderly Rehab BUNDLE (as an additional option) or our MSK extended follow-up.
EXCLUSIVE OFFER: Trial our VR-assisted rehab during your next standard follow-up (Neuro, Elderly or MSK) with no added cost or commitment - simply inform us in advance.
